On the 6 June 1944, the 82nd Airborne Division jumped into Normandy as part of Operation Overlord. The next morning, the Divisions 325th Glider Infantry Regiment landed near Sainte Mere Eglise, from where the Regiment's 1st Battalion received orders on the 8 June to establish contact with elements of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Although this mission started off successfully, by the 9 June 1st Battalion was trapped on the German side of the Merderet River, with Private First Class Charles DeGlopper and his Platoon becoming cut-off in the vicinity of Cauquigny. This video is dedicated to the memory of PFC Charles DeGlopper.
Liveth for Evermore provides a great video on PFC DeGlopper.
